Project - How to Make a Dinosaur Party Favor Tag - #ScrapbookProject #BirthdayPartyDIY

Hi! I've been planning a Dinosaur-themed birthday party and needed some favor tags for the gift bags I put together. There are hundreds of people on etsy selling favor tags already made for you or even kits to make your own. I prefer to make these myself so I can customize the look/feel as I go. Now that I'm done, I wanted to share with you exactly how I made these so you can make them too.

First, I prepare the circle labels. These will be glued on the top of the favor tag. For my labels, I used Microsoft Publisher's built-in Template for 1-inch circle labels. So when the template opens, you actually only see one square view but it prints an entire page of labels. I began with a red circle that filled the entire square. I filled the circle with a pattern background that looked like sand. Then I added several sections of different Word Art objects for the text. To get the rainbow effect, go to the Word Art editor and pick Gradient Fill then select "preset" color. The drop-down list has Rainbow option. Then I selected Vertical so it would fill the letters. It's easy once you work with it for a little while, but feel free to Google what you need. Last, I pasted an image of a dinosaur in the center then printed my labels and then cut each one out.

Next, I got some dark green patterned scrapbook sheets of paper to use as the background. I could have used plain paper but the textured paper adds a little nicer touch. I used the scallop-circle punch (1.5 inch) to cut out my background pieces. I cut 3-4 inch pieces of dark red ribbon for each tag. Since I plan to tie the tags to my favor bags, I punched holes at the top of each background piece. The ribbon goes into the hole about half-way (so 1.5-2 inches on each side).

Now, we glue the label piece on top of the background just covering the ribbon/hole. This keeps the ribbon from sliding completely out. Now you have a cute little favor tag that you can tie to your gift bags or gifts.

Tip - to make this project easier, you could use Sticky Label sheets for your printer (such as Avery) so you won't have to cut and glue each label out. Be sure to get the 1 inch version as they do sell different sizes.

Clearance Find - Michaels - Stickers and Ribbons

Michaels clearance is very hit or miss, but this week I found a bunch of really nice stickers marked down. Some scanned lower than the marked price and two weren't even marked, so be sure to use their scanners to verify prices. Keep in mind not every store may have these stickers or these prices.
